About
For the last decade I've been studying Hindustani classical music — most of it as a doctoral student at the University of Delhi [CONFIRM] — while continuing to perform on tombak, daf, and darbuka.
My playing sits between two classical traditions, Persian and Hindustani. I co-founded the Viuna Music Ensemble in 2004 and the Mehr Ban Ensemble in 2011 to explore where those traditions meet, and what new things happen when musicians from each take the time to really listen to each other.
Out of Delhi I run Honar Productions, a small studio for cross-cultural musical projects, and I lead the World Ethnic Music Ensemble (W.E.M.E.) — a rotating group that brings together musicians from across the world for one-off concerts and recorded collaborations.
I'm available for performance bookings, collaborations, and private or group lessons in tombak, daf, and darbuka. If you'd like to talk, send a note below.
